“I live by two words: tenacity and gratitude.” Henry Winkler
“Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.” Henry Van Dyke.
A Thought at Thanksgiving: When you replace a human joint with titanium, it doesn’t make you bionic — humanity remains intact. However, you are different now. There is a certain sadness when your body begins to fail, but the magic of science and surgery has allowed me to live with much less pain and improved joint function. Perhaps I value life and the time I have left more deeply now than before my hip replacement surgery. There are still many daily challenges in managing Parkinson’s. I am grateful for so much that I have been given in this life. Living with Parkinson’s requires strength and perseverance. Every morning, I remind myself that I am still here, willing to live with hope, and committed to following the path ahead. Happy Thanksgiving!

“Often people ask how I manage to be happy despite having no arms and no legs. The quick answer is that I have a choice. I can be angry about not having limbs, or I can be thankful that I have a purpose. I chose gratitude.” Nick Vujicic
